Crossover Sub

Crossover Sub

Drill String Connection Sub

Introduction

Crossover subs bridge mismatched connections across the drill string, adapting drill pipe to drill collars, or drill collars to drill collars, whatever the size.

Every BHA brings together components with different connection sizes and types, and the crossover sub is what makes them one continuous string. DTI offers crossovers for any drill string connection size and function needed.

Manufactured from alloy heat-treated steel and machined to API specifications, crossover subs are available in-house to customer specifications, with connection threads treated on request to prevent galling during make-up.

Any Combination Covered

Whatever the connection size or type on either side, a crossover can be manufactured to bridge it.

API-Spec Manufacture

Machined from alloy heat-treated steel to meet API specifications.

Steel or Non-Magnetic

Available in AISI heat-treated steel or non-magnetic material to suit its position in the string.

How It Works

One string from Mismatched Parts

Drill pipe, drill collars, motors, and tools rarely share the same connection size or thread type. Without the right adapter between them, the string simply can't be made up.

A crossover sub is machined with a different connection on each end, matched precisely to the components above and below it. Built from alloy heat-treated steel to API specifications, it carries the same loads as the string it joins.

The result is a drill string that makes up as one continuous assembly, every component connected, torqued, and ready to run.
